Bwindi shelters roughly 459 of the world's approximately 1,063 remaining mountain gorillas across 19 habituated families. Three days is enough to trek once, rest, and absorb the forest properly — this itinerary is often added as a 3-night extension to a longer Kenya or Rwanda safari.

Morning scenic flight from Entebbe or Kampala to one of Bwindi's airstrips (Kihihi or Kayonza), roughly 1hr 20min over the Rift Valley and Lake Edward. Met by your guide and transferred to your forest-edge lodge. Afternoon at leisure or an optional guided nature walk along the forest boundary. Briefing on the next day's trek. Dinner and overnight.

Gorilla Trekking Day
06:00 breakfast, then registration at the park headquarters for the day's ranger briefing and family allocation. Trek departs by 08:00 — duration ranges from 30 minutes to several hours of hiking through dense, steep rainforest depending on where the gorillas moved overnight. One hour is spent with the habituated family once located: feeding, playing juveniles, and — if you're fortunate — a silverback at close range. Packed lunch en route. Return to the lodge by mid-to-late afternoon. Certificate presentation and celebratory dinner.

Optional early guided forest walk or Batwa community visit. Breakfast and check-out. Transfer to the airstrip for your return flight to Entebbe or Kampala, connecting with onward international flights or a continuing safari.
