Morning visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial — a considered, unhurried couple of hours understanding Rwanda's history and its remarkable recovery in the thirty years since. Afternoon drive (~2.5hrs) north to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in time to check into your lodge with volcano views. Trekking briefing for the following morning.

06:30 registration and ranger briefing at park headquarters. Trek departs into bamboo forest and hagenia woodland below the Virunga volcanoes — Rwanda's trekking infrastructure is generally considered the most polished in the region, with well-graded trails. One hour with your allocated family once located. Optional afternoon: golden monkey tracking in the same park (separate permit). Celebratory dinner.

Optional early nature walk or waterfall hike. Drive back to Kigali (~2.5hrs), arriving in time for lunch and a return flight, or an extension into Akagera or Nyungwe if your itinerary continues.
